Aoedus aims to publish clear, useful and responsibly sourced coverage of Nigeria and the wider world.

Sources and attribution

Our news briefs identify the original report or official statement they draw on. We link readers to source material and attribute statistics, claims and allegations. We do not claim to have witnessed events or conducted interviews that we have not.

Dates and developing stories

We distinguish the date of an event from the date of publication. Announced plans, estimates and forecasts are described as such. Details in a developing story may change; an older report should not be treated as a live update.

Facts, opinions and allegations

Political statements are attributed to their speakers. An arrest or investigation is not proof of guilt. Commentary and analysis should be clearly identified, and sponsored material should be labelled.

Images

Images accompanying sourced briefs are credited with a link to the original report. A file photograph or illustration should not be described as a photograph of an event it does not depict. Image attribution does not imply that Aoedus owns the photograph.

AI-assisted work

Some launch articles are prepared with AI assistance using published source material. They are labelled as sourced briefs and checked against those reports. AI-generated assertions are not evidence, and we do not invent quotations, interviews or eyewitness accounts.

Corrections

When a material error is identified, our aim is to correct it and explain the change. Suggestions about accuracy should identify the article, the disputed detail and supporting evidence. We will add dedicated editorial contact details when the publisher provides them.
