The federal education ministry’s IDEAS-TVET initiative says it has trained about 80,000 people in occupational skills, as another 900 young participants begin training in Oyo State.

The programme’s national coordinator, Blessing Ogwu, gave the figure through a representative at the University of Ibadan, according to Voice of Nigeria. The new training cohort is being delivered with six service providers.

Areas listed include agriculture, fisheries, poultry, catering, hospitality and computer or phone repairs. Participants in the latest cohort are aged 15 to 35.

The initiative is intended to strengthen practical skills and support employment or small businesses. Training totals, however, are different from verified job placements or sustained business income. For prospective participants, the relevant details are the specific provider, course requirements and practical support available after training.
