Actor and producer Azeez Taofeek Alade has called for greater government funding to help Nigerian filmmakers improve production quality.
Voice of Nigeria, carrying a report credited to The Nation, said Alade described limited finance as a major challenge for producers. He also acknowledged support that some actors and filmmakers have received.
Alade began his industry career with the Ifepade Theatre Group in 1996 and discussed the development of his work over three decades. He urged younger creatives to remain patient and consistent.
His appeal adds a practitioner’s perspective to discussion of Nollywood’s financing needs. It is not an announcement of a new grant or a commitment by government to fund a particular project. Any future funding scheme would need its own confirmed terms, eligibility rules and application process.
